Frequently Asked Questions

The Website Design Process

How long does it take to build a website?

My website design process takes 3 weeks in total as I only work on one website project at a time. When you book, I will send you some homework to complete before our project kickoff date, to help keep us on schedule. This process lets me focus 100% on your project without distraction and deliver your site quickly.

What is the process for designing a website?

Almost all projects follow the same process/timeline:

  • First, we have an initial consult call so we can both ask questions and make sure we are a good fit, and I can deliver what you need. If you choose to book, you will receive a welcome package and homework to prepare the necessary website content before our project kickoff.

  • We begin on a Monday. The first week is focused on the home page design. We kick off Monday with a project kickoff call and strategy session. Then I get to work designing your homepage. Thursday, I will send you the homepage, and you will send your feedback by the end of the day on Friday.

  • The second week is focused on building the additional pages. By Thursday, I will send you the full site presentation, and you will send your feedback by the end of the day on Friday.

  • The third week is extra time for edits before launching. I will send you edits typically within 24 hours of receiving your feedback (or less), and you can have as many rounds of editing as needed within that third week. Then on Friday, we have a lesson & launch call where I walk you through how to manage your site and make some edits as needed. We launch your site and celebrate!

How many edits can I request?

You can request as many edits as you would like within our 3-week design window, and we have a whole week dedicated to edits. The faster you send me your list of edit requests, the faster I turn them around and you can send me more. We will keep track of edits needed on Google Sheets to stay organized. I recommend providing feedback and edits within 24 hours of receiving my content. Ideally, all the prep work we did before the project and during the first two weeks makes week 3 easy, with only a few changes needed - but I have a whole week for edits planned to give you that time.

What if I don’t know what content to prepare?

Don’t worry about that yet! I will send a welcome package with instructions on how to prep content for your website. I include several tips for DIY content, including tips on free stock photography and leveraging AI. We will also pull together inspiration content, and I have a guided questionnaire to get the wheels turning. I enjoy building beautiful, cohesive websites, and that relies on content… so it’s in my interest to help you be successful.

Invoices & Payments

Can I make payment installments?

Absolutely—that’s actually how I set up my invoices.

  • First payment: 30% deposit to reserve your design period/month

  • Second payment: 30% due before our project kickoff

  • Final payment: 40% due before launch at the conclusion of our project

Reminders will be sent out via email.

What payment forms do you take?

I send contracts and invoices via HoneyBook to your email address. It is entirely online and accepts credit cards, debit cards, and ACH payments.
